Praising God & Pressing Forward
Hello friends,
We hope you enjoyed the update from Moscow in our last newsletter. We want to give you some more updates and really begin focusing on what many of you are excited about - the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.
We made several changes to our booklets for Russia to make them more tech savvy and (we pray) more effective for the follow-up. We learned a lot and have already implemented another change that we will introduce you to at the 2020 orientation time. We simply want to be as effective for the cause of Christ as we know how.
It was a great and challenging 18 days in Moscow and St Petersburg for the FIFA Soccer World Cup. God blessed with so many opportunities! Last check over 1544 individuals have visited our website and follow-up page (that is way above "normal").
For those who have been praying with us that we would get our booklets back from the Russian Customs Department, please keep praying. We have 3 of the 12 boxes back in our possession. They are written so we can use them in 4 years at the next FIFA World Cup.
One of the guys in our group, Ben writes the following:
"Every time I think back on what the Lord accomplished in my life for this ministry I am brought to tears. For years now, God has been burdening my heart for Russia, and causing me to love the country and its people. This has been a perfect opportunity to experience doing God’s work in the country that I love and will, God willing, return to as a missionary."
WOW! Praise God for the things He has done!

We are now turning our thoughts and planning toward Tokyo 2020. We have a number of contacts, and will be making another survey trip to Tokyo this fall with our tech guy to secure accommodation for our Olympic outreach.
As you know, these trips take some “seed money” to get the accommodation/ food/ transportation reserved and deposits made to secure lodging for the 100-150 people that will be coming on this trip. In future years, we are hoping to be able to make this ministry self-sustaining. Right now, however, we are going to need extra finances to be able to make deposits.
As you have been part of this ministry previously, or have an interest in this unique form of evangelism to the major sporting events in our world, we would ask you to consider a one-time gift. These funds would be useful not only for the deposits necessary to secure our accommodation in 2020, but would also assist us in the translation and printing of the booklets we use to share the gospel with people from all over the world. Another impact of one time or monthly gifts is they will greatly help to keep the cost of that trip lower for everyone who comes to Tokyo.
ABWE (the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism) is behind this ministry along with us, with a project account set up for S.E.E. (Sports Event Evangelism). We also have applied for 501(c)(3) status with the IRS and you may choose to give through our account in Salem, Oregon.
If you would like to give through ABWE, please go to the ABWE.org website the give to the Sports Event Evangelism account (0716001).
If you would like to give directly to S.E.E., please send your checks payable to S.E.E. to 2466 Christina St NW, Salem Oregon 97304. If/when we are approved for 501(c)(3) status, you may receive a tax-deductible receipt retroactive to our application.
Thanks for your interest in S.E.E. We look forward to you joining us in Tokyo, either in person or in prayer, as we share Christ with the world at the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.
In His service,
Matt & Barb Douglas
