“WHOEVER CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED."
Romans 10.13
Time is flying by. One month from today we will be together in Paris!
Please forgive us if we haven’t been communicating enough. We have actually been moving internationally (from Australia, where we have served as church planters for 30 years, back to the US). We are now located in the Dallas, Texas, area. If you have any questions or concerns, please email us! We will do the best we can to answer questions and get the information you may need.
We have been thinking of things we should be communicating - especially for those on the team who have not traveled internationally very much. Things like: If you are buying luggage - try to avoid black. If that is what you have, you are fine, but so many people have black luggage that it will be harder to spot your own luggage. It is standard to allow three hours at the airport before international flights. If your flight is delayed - don't panic. Just email us and let us know what you know when you know new arrival details. Button down pockets deter pick-pockets.
SHIRTS
The shirts have arrived here in Texas, and we’ll be getting them to you soon. Also, we’ll include a length of ribbon we would like you to tie on to each of your bags to be able to identify you (and your luggage) more easily.
TRAIN PASSES
Transit passes have been ordered, and we’ll be getting those to you at the airport when you arrive. This will cover your travel around the city while you are here.
WHEN YOU ARRIVE
After you have cleared customs and collected your luggage, please make your way to the RER train station. There will be signs throughout the terminal that look like this:
We will meet there to give you your transit pass and get you organized on the right train to get to Orsay, where our accommodation is.
There are some of you arriving by train. We’ll organize your transit passes separately.
CELL PHONE SERVICE
Here’s an explanation from our team member in Paris regarding phone choices:
“There is a possibility to get en eSIM with 3 French companies, orange, bouygues, and SFR. From what I see their plans range from an all inclusive unlimited for 50€ to a 140gb data plan for 25€. It can all be done online, and the plan will be active upon arrival. Buying a SIM card once in France bumps the price up to 70€. I think the service with these plans will be better, but I don’t know how user friendly it will be to sign up. Probably best to go with what people know and understand.”
A second option that may be cheaper for some is: https://www.simoptions.com/prepaid-sim-card-europe/
You may also have an international plan already with your local carrier. Or you can organize your own phone service.
We do want to be able to communicate with each other, so if you download What’s App or Signal on your phone, that would be great.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
The weather will be warm in Paris. Dress should be casual, comfortable, and appropriate. Please bring comfortable walking shoes. A hat and sun screen would be a good idea. A waist pack for carrying booklets (or a backpack or other bag).
We’re trying to think of everything, but we may have missed something.
Please continue to pray for the outreach: witnessing opportunities, health, safety, and strength.
Thanks for being a part of this amazing ministry. We are so looking forward to being together and serving together.
In His service,
Matt & Barb Douglas
